Covid -19 update – June 2020

It is almost impossible to believe how much our lives have changed in the past few months. And for many small businesses, including ourselves, it has been one of the most challenging of times they will ever face. And that is why we want to say a huge THANK YOU to every one of our wonderful clients for your ongoing support. 

But finally we are beginning to see a little ray of hope.

So, whilst we are far from being free of this virus, the world is moving forward and we all have to adapt and adjust to a new type of “normal”.


Like many businesses we are working hard, planning how we will reopen, but still prioritising the safety and wellbeing of our clients.

This involves a lengthy process of, undertaking risk assessments, researching the government guidelines and liaising with our professional organisations and insurers.

With our sessions being primarily based out on location, we are confident that we can adhere to the social distancing guidance when it comes to humans.

Obviously this may prove slightly more difficult with pets, especially dogs.

However, there will be changes to the way we operate, to both Photography Sessions and Viewing & Ordering Sessions, and we will have to implement a “phased” return.


We plan to resume sessions for Dogs and Horses, from the end of June 2020, and will be contacting clients to reschedule sessions over the next few weeks.

The protocol will be as follows –

*All our equipment will be cleaned prior to the session

*We will carry Sanitiser and wipes for our hands and equipment

*Social distancing must be observed at all times (we know this may not be possible if dogs run over to us)

* We will require clients to wipe their pet with a Pet Wipe before the session, and strongly advise them to wipe their pet after the session too, in case they come into contact with the virus whilst out and about. Will will have the wipes available for those who do not have their own.

*Sessions must be on location (ie country park, woodland, open fields, beach) and must not be highly populated by members of the public.

*Sessions can only include members and pets of the same household.

Unfortunately, for PHASE ONE we cannot resume sessions for ANYONE who falls under the following categories-

*You are unwell or a member of your household is unwell

*Is on the High Risk Group or Shielding

*Has a member of the household who is deemed High Risk or is Shielding

*Any sessions held at the clients home or in the studio ie for Cats or very young pets


As many of you already know, approximately 7 years ago I donated a kidney to my husband.

This, along with other medical issues, places him in the Critically At Risk group and as such, he has been Shielding and will need to do so for the foreseeable future.

So, with this in mind, we plan to adapt The Studio to accommodate all Viewing & Ordering Sessions.

As always, appointments will be spread out and so there will be plenty of time to sanitise The Studio before the next session.

We will be introducing, hand sanitisers, gloves and masks, specifically for clients to use and will have a supply for us too.

The protocol will be as follows –

*The Studio and all samples will be cleaned prior to all Viewing & Ordering sessions

*Clients must sanitiser their hands on entry to The Studio (this can be with our sanitiser or their own)

*Clients will be supplied with disposable gloves which they will need to wear when handling samples, etc (these will be latex free)

*Masks must be worn at all times whilst in the studio (clients are welcome to bring their own or use those we supply)

*There will be clearly marked zones to help with social distancing

*A maximum of 2 adults from the same household can attend the Viewing & Ordering Session

*Children and Pets will NOT be allowed to attend Viewing & Ordering Sessions

You must NOT attend a Viewing & Ordering Session if –

*You are unwell or a member of your household is unwell

*Is on the High Risk Group or Shielding

*Has a member of the household who is deemed High Risk or is Shielding


We will continue to monitor the situation over the coming months, and in particular changes to the rates of infection.

We will also continue to use guidance from the government, our professional organisations and insurers, to assist us in planing the next phases.

Once we are clear how we can proceed, we will update everyone.

In the meantime we want to reassure all our clients that your vouchers will not expire and you will have plenty of time to rebook your session.

And Gift Vouchers are still available to purchase. These are sent out via Royal Mail.

Please do take good care of yourselves and your pets.

We know this is a challenging time for everyone, but it is especially difficult for those suffering from anxiety or depression.
